Depending on which of the functions your using, line 5/12 was where we determine if the current string fits within our formatting of the "chat session", ie, does it contain haystack ( : ) in the string to split between the dt's and dd's. If it doesn't contain the haystack ( : ), then that string is added into everything without the dt/dd processing on line 14/22.

So assuming we just want to make (a million years later) emphasized, we pop over to line 14/22 and modify it to look something like this:

// the string didn't contain a needle. Displaying anyway in case there's anything additional you want to add within the transcript
$chatoutput = $chatoutput . "<em>" . $haystack . "</em>\n";

Now just add a .chat-transcript em rule inside your css and your all set. By playing with the loops and where the strings get concocted together, you can even push any non dt/dd terms to the top/bottom of the chat session, or delete them all together.

Jason -- again, thanks, this worked a charm. Quick question: any ideas how can I edit the function to treat non-dialog lines the same as my dd's? That is, I have something like:

him: this is that
her: no way
(a million years later)
him: yup

And I'm having a hard time getting a grip on (styling) that "(a million years later)". Any ideas very much appreciated!!!

This is what ended up working for me, I can't promise you will have the same luck though. The first time I tried it on win7 it blew up on me, a few months later I was craving it again and now suddenly it works. There are some minor bugs, but for the most part it's as stable as it ever was.

Bugs I have on my install: Not all applications will launch from the popupmenu, some of them I have to launch manually from a shortcut. System Volume and Network indicator just don't work from the systray. and MSN messenger can only be terminated from ctrl-alt-delete. Otherwise it's been running pretty good for the last few months.

All of this is done without rebooting first:
1. Used the old Omar's installer, ie: Omar's Litestep Installer
--- > Other people have had better luck with the LOSI install, and that is what most people recommend: LOSI Installer
2. Downloaded the 0.25.0 release and updated the core manually: LSDEV 0.25.0 Experimental
3. Updated xpaintclass to 1.0 update 7, working great for win7 x64: Updated xpaintclass
4. Ran setshell64 to set the shell. Setshell64 Download
5. Rebooted and whammo.. litestep again.

Then later I was having problems switching themes using the LSThemeInstaller included in omar's package. Replacing it with SLI-ThemeManager did the trick: LSI-ThemeManager

Another thing of note, although I'm not sure if it matters, is I am using a custom win7 visual style. So my explorer.exe is owned by my user and has control rights of it. I really don't know if that makes a difference, but it's the only thing that wasn't done the last time I tried to install LS so it might matter.

To do this, right click on explorer.exe > click the Security tab > click on the Advanced button > click on the Owner tab > click on the Edit button > click on Administrators > click OK > OK > OK > OK > Yes.
Right click on explorer.exe again > click on the Security tab > click on the Edit… button > Click on Administrators > check the Full Control: Allow box > OK > OK

Thank you so much for posting this, I've been searching for hours with the same issue. As a side note, I found that increasing the image to just 32x32 worked for me also.
